Compare The Jack Lalanne Juicer and The Breville Juice Fountain Elite

The Jack LaLanne juicer and the Breville juice fountain elite are two well-respected and best-selling juicer machines; and they are best sellers because they are both genuinely great juicing machines. However, the Breville juice fountain elite is most definitely the better of the two – but it does come with a higher price tag accordingly. So let’s compare the two to see the similarities and the differences.

Firstly, both these juicer machines are centrifugal based juice extractors and therefore function by virtue of the same mechanism. Centrifugal juice extractors have vertical feeding chutes with a high-speed disc/blade at the bottom of the shaft.. This disc contains many tiny blades, just like a cheese grater, that grinds down fruits and veggies into smaller pieces. These small pieces are then thrown outwards by centrifugal force (away from the center) as a result of the high-speed blade and into a mesh filter. This force then “pushes” the juice out of the small pieces of fruits and vegetables.

So, a key difference between the Jack LaLanne juicer and the Breville juicer is in the high-speed blade. A Jack LaLanne juice delivers a sufficient 3,600 RPM (revolutions per minute) and the Breville churns out an unbelievable 13,000 RPM! When it comes to juicing hard produce like carrots and especially beets, sweet potatoes and pineapples with their rinds on, the Jack LaLanne juicer will do the job, but you will hear the motor “complain” a little. So you need to take it easy and not over stress the motor. With the monster power of the Breville, the motor will tear down such produce into an 8 oz juice in just 5 seconds without a single sign of stress!

The only other key difference is that the Breville juice fountain elite comes with a juice container that fits perfectly to the front of the machine. This completely eliminated any chance of juice spraying out from the spout and creating a mess, which it surely would without the container. The Jack LaLanne juicer does not come with a custom fitting juice container so you have to use a glass, cup or other container. This will catch 99% of the juice but the other 1% can spray far and wide and leave a small clean up job.

In conclusion, the Jack LaLanne juicer is still a great juicer for the price – $90. It will juice most fruits and vegetables effectively but will stutter a bit with tough produce. If you just have $90 to spend, you will not be unhappy with a Jack LaLanne juicer. On the other hand if you got $250 to spare it is worth going for the Breville juice fountain elite. There is currently no other juicing machine that can juice as quickly or deliver the same level of power. It will take decades to burn the motor out!
