So what makes this rice cooker so good?

Firstly it is one of the only 3 cup rice cookers that has an Induction Heating System. This ensures that there is the most even heat distribution possible so that each grain of rice is cooked evenly. It pretty much guarantees great tasting rice.

On top of this, there are many different settings for what types of rice this appliance can prepare. Of course it can make standard white and brown rice, but on top of this it is also has a setting to cook GABA brown rice. This is rare in 3 cup rice cookers.

The size of the Zojirushi NP-GBC05 means that it is perfect for people living alone as well as couples and small families. It can cook as little as half a cup of rice up to three cups. Filled to capacity it can make enough for five people to eat.

It is very easy to use. The NP-GBC05, as do all Zojirushi rice cookers, comes with two measuring cups and a non-stick spatula. All you have to do is measure the amount of rice that you want to make and then add water up to the correct level. This is clearly visible on the inside of the cooking bowl. Then you can make your rice.

Clean up with this machine is also very easy. It has an inner lid that is detachable which means it can be washed in a sink full of soapy water. The steam vent also pops out so can be washed in the same fashion. To protect the non-stick coating of the cooking bowl, make sure that it has cooled down completely before putting it in the sink. It is actually a good idea to let it dry out completely first, then you can simply wipe out any dried rice with a piece of kitchen paper.

I finally decided to lay my old pillow to rest this past February. It was old and battered, and I was ready to purchase something that was made with the sole intent of improving the users sleep.  I was thinking about getting a new memory foam pillow after hearing rave reviews from many of my friends on how it improved my sleep.  But, before I made the purchase, I wanted to be able to choose the exact right pillow for me.

In my quest for the right pillow I listed out the pros and cons of each type I was considering.  I’ve provided the handy list I made for you below.

Memory Foam Pillows

Pros:

• Comfortably cradles your head when you sleep.
• Keeps your head aligned with your body.
• NASA designed it so it must be cool.

Cons:

• Not that these is a con really, but it doesn’t last forever. A few years of constant use and it sags.

Latex foam pillows

Pros:

• Keeps your body in a proper “S” position when you sleep.
• It doesn’t sag over time like the memory foam pillow does.

Cons:

• It can smell a bit weird for the first few days.

After some thorough examination, testing, and careful consideration, I finally found the exact right memory foam pillow for me (I decided to not get a latex version). I was convinced that I have the best memory foam pillow available! Just when I thought my mind was made up, I saw that they were offering the same pillow in a king size version! As soon as I heard that I was sold!  I love large, luxurious pillow that I can just fall into.  And, finding it in my preferred foam style was incredible.  II bought it right away and I even got a memory foam contour pillow along with it. It is specially designed to follow the shape of your back and is best when you sit for a long period of time.

I am really glad that I can rest comfortably with what I bought. I still think about what it would be like if I bought the latex pillows instead. Maybe I’ll find out next time!

Here are a few different types of sink material to consider that will work for outdoor use:

Stainless steel – If you are using your sink near a grill or as part of an outside kitchen, a likely material choice will be stainless steel.  This versatile material can withstand the elements of the weather and will hold up well without any deterioration due to sun, wind, or rain.  One of the most important aspects of outdoor kitchens, aside from grills, are sinks and many are stainless steel.

Copper – If you are looking for a sink that has a more decorative touch to it, then you may want to consider copper.  This material is often used outdoors for various types of objects and holds up well to the weather.  It will turn color, however – a process known as patina, so that golden copper color will eventually become a soft greenish hue.

Plastic/Resin – One of the most popular types of sinks used outdoors are those made from some type of plastic or resin material.  In some cases, theses sinks are made from recycled materials, making them more environmentally friendly as well.  Plastic or resin is a durable and low maintenance material that will not corrode or deteriorate due to the elements of the weather.  The only thing that may happen is that if the sink is a colored plastic, it may fade over time if situated in full sunlight.

1. Don’t Be Too Formal

   Kitchens are informal rooms and so kitchen curtains should match that informality. If you choose a very formal grand pattern then it will not look good in your kitchen (unless you live in Buckingham Palace and have a kitchen to match of course).

2. Don’t Get the Proportions Wrong

   If you have quite small windows (which is usually the case in a kitchen) then choose a small scale pattern otherwise you will make your windows seem even smaller and you will not get the effect of the whole pattern. If you have found a fabric you love with a large pattern think about having it made into a blind instead. You will then be able to see the fabric properly when the blind is down.

3. Don’t Be Too Dull

   If you have a stainless steel and white kitchen don’t get curtains which are plain gray or white. Inject a little interest with other colors. And if you have a wooden kitchen with beige tiles and beige flooring, don’t buy kitchen curtains in beige unless you want your kitchen to look the dullest of rooms. Use these neutral colors as a background for the fabric rather than as the sole color.

4. Don’t Get the Wrong Tone

   Colors are predominantly warm or cool in tones. If you kitchen is mainly warm tones then choose curtains in that tone and ditto with a cool tone kitchen. Warm tones are fall shades, cream and yellow whereas cool tones are bright and clear and include the neutral colors of white, black and gray.

5. Don’t Clash

   The colors in your kitchen curtains should not fight against the other colors in the room particuarly those near the window. Getting the color tone right helps of course but there are warm colors which clash with each other and cool tones which don’t go so well together either so you need to consider this too when choosing colors.

6. Don’t Be Afraid to Take Risks

   If you find a kitchen curtain fabric that you absolutely fall in love with then don’t worry that it is a bit unusual. It can be the making of your kitchen. Most of us play it safe when it comes to our home decoration, but it is the things with a big impact which we remember and love about a home.

1. Is Red the Right Choice?

   You may have chosen to buy a red area rug simply because you like the color red. There is nothing wrong with that but you do have to make sure that red is right for the room. As it is such a bold color choice it is rarely right for a romantic style bedroom or country living room, for example, unless mixed with a lot of another color such as white.

2. Which Color Red?

   There are many shades of red so your designer would be looking at whether an orange-red hue is right for your room or a more bluey-red such as cherry as well as bright red or a dark burgundy red. You will find every color in rugs so no need to worry especially if you look online rather than relying on your local store.

3. Where will the Rug Go?

   The position of your rug will affect both the size and shape you should choose. For example, a hearth rug needs to be small and rectangular or half moon in shape whereas a long narrow hall needs a long runner rug. The main thing to watch out for is that you do not buy a rug which is too small in the interests of economy. It will just look out of place. If you’re going add an item which has impact (as red rugs do) it should be big enough to have that impact.

4. Style of Rug

   Rugs generally fall in one of two camps. You have contemporary red rugs with bold designs, colors and textures and you have more traditional red rugs (such as Chinese and Persian rugs) with more subtle patterns and multiple colors. And, of course, your rug (and room) should fit into one style or the other.

5. Quality

   A designer would advise you to buy the best red rug you can afford and hopefully that equates to a rug of good quality rather than one which is cheap and will wear out in no time. If you cannot afford the type of rug which will enhance your home just now, why not wait and save up until you can. You won’t regret it.

Placing a Console Table Under Window Ledges and Sills

The idea of a console table under window ledges or flush with a sill, may give almost any space new life. For example, it needn’t be a kitchen or a bar concept, but a small writing desk. How? Easy. Get a narrow console table with stools that matches your bedroom, living room, den or office décor. Place the console in front of the window and slide one or two stools under it. If you have chosen a table that is high and has a drawer that will be useful to store notepads and pens. It may not be the place where you do your work everyday, but it’s a place where you can sit, look out the window, write letters or make lists and take a break from your desk. When not in use keep fresh flowers on the console table and try to avoid heavy curtains or draperies on the window. A simple valance or nothing more than sheers is enough. If the room is in apartment on a high floor, why not leave the window bare – no curtains or blinds to give a clear view when you sit there.

Create a Basement Bar with a Narrow Console Table with Stools

If you’re doing some basement renovation on a budget and your space is limited, try creating a bar with a wooden console table that has tall legs. Place it against a wall or leave it in the middle of the floor like an island, then slide some stools around it, about 4 should be enough. Hang a few wine glass rack overhead and a funky light to illuminate the bar and voila! for a couple hundred dollars you could have a basement bar. Remember that it doesn’t matter what your theme is. If you want a chic look, try a glass console table with some chrome stools. If your décor is wood, try a mission console table with low stools, saddle stools would be perfect. Create a country cozy American bar or a Boston retro red and chrome look just by selecting the right height and style of your narrow console table with stools, or by placing a console table under window ledges…yes, even in a basement…to take advantage of the light from even a small window. Just remember to measure the height of the table and buy the stools not too high, or buy a narrow wall mounting table (or build your own easily with a prefab shelf you can buy from almost any home improvement center ) and attach it high enough on the wall to accommodate a set of bar height stools.
